LYNN — Talk about a pitchers’ duel. The Lynn Babe Ruth 14-year-old baseball team defeated Norwood, 1-0, at Fraser Field Tuesday night.
Lynn’s winning pitcher, Brennan Malloy, went six innings, allowing just one hit and punching out eight batters. Abiel Hernandez entered in relief for the seventh inning, going 1-2-3 for the save.
Despite Norwood pitcher Luke Walsh going 5 1/3 innings – allowing four hits and a run – the hosts managed to find some success. Lynn’s four hits came from Jackson Barrett, Alphonse Wilhemson, Eli Fialho, and Cam Nguyen.
Back to that only run of the game. In the bottom of the second inning with runners on second (Eli Fialho) and third (Emerson Lara), Brock Hogan scored Lara with a sacrifice fielder’s choice.
Lynn returns to action in Thursday’s semifinal game at Breed Middle School. First pitch is slated for 5:30 p.m.
