Portion of Saugus' Lynn Fells Parkway closing due to construction

[ad_1]

SAUGUS — A portion of Lynn Fells Parkway between the areas of Laurine Road and Forest Street will be closed for construction work starting Monday.

As previously reported by The Item, drainage catch basins will be installed to help alleviate some of the flooding that has been occurring on the parkway.

The construction will occur from Monday, July 1 through Wednesday, July 3, and continue once again on Monday, July 8, and Tuesday, July 9, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

According to a notice sent by the Department of Conservation and Recreation, the roadway will be clearly labeled to indicate ongoing work and there will be a police detail present.

The construction marks the first step in alleviating measures that will be taken to deal with flooding in the area.

Tom Valton, the head of DCR’s Stormwater and Environmental section, said previously at a meeting when presenting on the project that it will provide residents with relief from flooding for now, with larger-scale projects planned for the future.
